Kundl Gorge
Wild beauty, roaring waters and impressive cliffs
The Kundl Gorge is one of the most beautiful natural gorges in Austria and captivates hikers and nature lovers every year.
The gorge is best reached from the idyllic Mühltal valley, where you can take the slow train to the entrance of the gorge. From there, the trail leads along the Wildschönauer Ache, which meanders for two and a half kilometers all the way to Kundl in the Inn Valley. Along the way, visitors pass impressive rock faces up to 200 meters high, making the gorge a unique natural experience.
The roaring waters of the Wildschönauer Ache are amplified by numerous tributaries and rush through the gorge with a loud roar. In the lower section, where the gorge widens, masses of water gather in calm pools, inviting children to splash around, while adults can enjoy the wild beauty of the surroundings.
The Kundl Gorge is open from the beginning of April to mid-November, although the slow train only runs in the summer season. In winter, the gorge remains closed for safety reasons.
