Start at the Hotel Staffler in Niederau, from here it's about 1 km along the stream on the Auenweg and then up the hill to the Foisching mountain restaurant. From here you have a wonderful view of the village of Niederau and the Markbachjoch ski slopes. Continue uphill on a wide path through the forest until you reach "Little Canada", a tiny log cabin, reminiscent of those found in the Canadian forests.
The way back leads you past a deer park, where you can watch the tame deer. Make a stop at the "Jausenstation Foisching" with its beautiful terrace and even lovelier views. Back in the village, walk back to the starting point via the cleared winter path parallel to the cross-country ski tracks.
Walking time: Approx. 3.5 hours
Altitude difference: 255 m
Recommended equipment: Sturdy shoes with good tread, spikes, winter clothing, poles.
